Project Engineer / Electrical Engineer for Newspaper Post Processing Equipment...There are about 6 of us left in the USA...Newspapers are going the way of Steam Engine Locomotives...Hopefully I'll be gainfully employed till retirement or go to work at Steamtown. In newspapers since college in '86....Masters EE in 2010. Flying coast to coast for 12 yrs after my local paper closed. It is certainly a challenge integrating systems that are just too old to new technology, but the frame work still does the job.

Wow! brings back memories MrM6MD. My first responsible job was a paperboy. The Sunday paper (Fairfield Times Herald) was so big and heavy I could only get about 20 in my dual bags. At that time, I had 75 houses on my route. I was 14years old. Now my nieghbor bring my all his newspapers weekly for my various painting masking projects. The Sacramento Bee. A whole week's worth is now close to the weight of my Sunday paper I mentioned delivering a few decades ago.

Following college, I was commissioned in the Army and served as an Armor officer and later a Military Intelligence officer in Viet Nam, Germany and South Carolina. I left the service as a captain and went to law school and then practiced law for 30 years, retiring in 2007, mainly due to serious back problems making it difficult and painful to travel to various courthouses and sit in courthouse chairs for hours at a time.
I used to do my own work on cars for the fun of it, starting with my 1965 Corvair Corsa Spyder convertible, the only turbocharged car I have owned, then on to a 1966 Mustang 289 with 4 speed. On getting back from Viet Nam, I bought a 1969 MG Midget which really took a lot of work.
Over the years, I've owned 25 different cars and four motorcycles, but I quit doing the heavy work on the cars when the computers started becoming more important than the mechanics. I pretty much quit entirely after my back problems started in 2004, so I am here more for information and the fellowship than for figuring out what to do, though I still find the technical stuff to be interesting.

Helped on the my Uncles farm starting in 7th grade mostly during spring plant and fall harvest. Lots of grass mowing in the summer and snow clearing in the winter for cash. Worked myself through college in 77,78,79 at the GM Norwood Ohio plant building Firebirds and Camaros. The movie Smokey and the Bandit had just come out and things went crazy as production skyrocketed. All the overtime and weekends you wanted. Graduated college in 80 with a science degree then joined the Navy and got my wings in 1981. Spent 7 years active duty 13 years reserve as a flight instructor and squadron pilot. Flew commercial and reserve until 2001 when I retired from the navy reserves then finally retired from flying in 2015. Had a lot of spare time when I was not flying so I flipped a lot of cars out of my backyard shop, I bought three tr-6's in 1988 and used all the parts to restore one to excellent condition. I still own it and drive it almost weekly.
