What are the best non-hid replacement halogen headlight bulbs for our vehicles?

I am looking to replace my headlight bulbs, any suggestions? Thanks!

Believe it or not, that is not as simple a question to answer as you may think.
It depends a lot on what you're looking for?
Do you want more powerful headlamps (higher output and/or higher wattage) or are you after longevity?

I am guessing you are going for an easy upgrade in the form of better lighting (usable output) using legal bulb replacements.
What you need to know about bulbs such as these are that they will offer only a little better light, you may not even notice it behind the wheel, but they will only last 1/2 as long (if you're lucky) and cost 3-4 times as much.
If this is what you have in mind, the two current biggies are the Philips X-Treme Power, and the more highly advertised Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. Both will cost you between $35 and $50/set of two and give a bit better lighting.

One thing you CERTAINLY want to do is avoid "blue" bulbs, no matter who makes them. Off brand eBay bulbs will last you about 10 mins. The name-brand blue bulbs, and the manufacturer's should be ashamed of themselves for even producing them, will last somewhat longer, but neither will offer even as much light output as an OE style bulb.

High wattage bulbs (55/100W, 70/100W, 85/120W, etc) are:
1) Illegal. And
2) Will require relays triggered by your current headlamp circuit and of course the wring that would go with that.

If you need/want further information about halogen bulb replacements simply respond and ask.
