RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

nope, it's the blue fogs and the thickness of the black barrier around the grille makes the "face" of the car have an oversized nose combined with the smiling lower grille the car looks like a clown. The protege pulls of the 2 tone black and other color look a little better than a Mazda6.

My truck was sponsored by kicker, I have had nothing but good luck with kicker. I cant say that much for anything else ive had, jl, alpine, orion, stroker, just to name a few. I was at 159 db with almost the same setup here, so i seems good to me! Wait till you see the hood.

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

because you say "wait till you see the hood" is that your Mazda6? You did a good job with it. I am sorry about the "clown" comment but maybe a thinner black barrier around the grille heading onto the hood would do it better IMO. It probably looks better hood down anyway. Also Tracker says that not because of what the sticker says, I just don't like stickers on cars.

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

If you notice, the 6 doesnt really have good body lines. I followed the lines that looked best. As far as the fogs, thier the ons that are for the erebuni bumper. To each his own tho right?

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

Im not tryin to be an ass, just trying to explain and open your mind a little. As far as stickers go, im not much on them either, but when you get stuff free ill advertise. Yup its mine. Actually the hood that is going on the car is still being made, i have some friends in the body bussiness and thier doing a one off to see what it looks like and if there is any interest in it.

hey new guy, whats up? never heard of stroker, but i love kicker ive been debating on weather or not i should stick that sub this guy has in his car in mine but im gonna have 3 of those in one box (ported or not is undecided) and as you can see that sub box is freaking huge and its just for one solo baric, but right now audio upgrades is at the bottom of my "what i want but cant afford" list

No I feel like the ass, I am sorry I feel bad about insulting your car. It does look good as an overal vehicle. Also I didn't welcome you to the site. so welcome and you have a nice Mazda6. The brake calipers look really good with the "6" incooporated like that and the engine bay looks really neat and organized too. It's much more than I have done to my car (none) soI respect that you modified your car need ot see fit for yourself.

jessejamze 08-20-2006 02:25 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

Actually 3 wont fit in your car unless you take out the rear seat. The box i built is the smallest that you can use for a ported enclosure, 3 cu ft. Its the solox not the basic solobaric, thats why you need alot of space. You also need alot of power for them, if you under power them it will destroy the voice coil. Stroker is made by cerwin vega, about 6 years ago it was the only speaker that would handle 2000 watts, now thats nothin.

jessejamze 08-20-2006 02:28 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

No hard feelings, you didnt insult me, just giving ur opinion. Everyone has one. There are some things i have done to see if people like them so i know to give my guys a good report to make them or not. As far as the junk on the floor, i havnt had time to clean it yet, had some problems with my foot so ive been "tied up".

Tracker 08-20-2006 02:38 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

oh its you, i didnt actually think you would show up on here, well anyway glad to have you aboard. The box i was going for was gonna be a universal box for three 10in L5 Solo baric, obvioulsy one box for those subs is almost as big as three, i know the subs require alot of power , thats already been out into the equasion, but i more worried about the sound qualily of the subs not only conserning the ported vs. unported but since the sub is in a box thats way to small for it.

jessejamze 08-20-2006 02:46 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

If you are gonna use a big amp, spend the little extra for the L7. The L series dont require alot of power, just the solox, 2500 minimum. Your best bet would be to go to tweeter in bel air and have the box made for your car. The installer there is a kicker qualified installer. Should cost around 200.00 maybe not that much. As far as sq, go with a sealed enclosure, you get tighter and more rapid hits as opposed to a ported which can get sloppy with fast bass if you dont have it tuned right. You also have to keep tunning as the sub breaks in and wears. If you have any questions just ask, ill do my best to help. Ive been in the audio scene for about 15 years, 7 of which i had my own shop

Tracker 08-20-2006 02:52 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

awesome im glad i found you, but yeah i went to tweeter already and they said its gonna be $300 flat is that an accurate price

jessejamze 08-20-2006 03:00 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

I actually paid 150.00 to have one of mine done a couple months ago.

Sure did, Dropped it off 1 night and the next morning it was done!

Tracker 08-20-2006 03:14 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

It was for the 6 right? if it was then they charged you $150 for one sub box while they are charging $300 for 3

jessejamze 08-20-2006 03:16 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

Yup. Let me know when you want to go up there and ill go up with you and see if i can help.

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

thanks man thats really nice but unfortunatly its gonna be a LONG LONG while before i can even get close to having enough money to get my audio setup besides im trying to save up performence parts right now

jessejamze 08-20-2006 03:21 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

If your saving for perf parts start by NOT putting in a system. Every 100 lbs is a tenth off your 1/4 time. Its pretty much pointless to spend all that money to make your car fast, then slow it down by putting in 1000 lbs of stereo equipment.

Tracker 08-20-2006 03:23 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

yeah i know, btw do you know of any good sites that work on my 3

jessejamze 08-20-2006 03:24 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

When your ready let me know, you saw what i had and if i had 2000.00 in my whole setup im lyin. I can get that 12 in solox for 500 instead of 1300. I can get pretty much anything with a little time to call my guys.

Tracker 08-20-2006 03:27 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

your guyz work on everything mazda realted or just cars in general

jessejamze 08-20-2006 03:28 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

As far as what? My guys up at H&H can do pretty much anything, thats who i have do my work. If you have parts or can get them, they can install it. As a matter of fact they just finished a 10 sec honda civic, and if they cant do something, than Arron can, he builds and fabricates super fast cars, hodas, nissans, etc.

jessejamze 08-20-2006 03:30 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

All cars. They specialize in old car restoration but the one guy built and tubbed his own 9 sec nova, and the other guy can fab just about anything, he did the complete suspension for hydrolics on his nissa p/u

Tracker 08-20-2006 03:31 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

does H&H have a website? Do they install turbos or make custom ones? If i asked them to make custom parts for my car like a lipkit, turbo, or even tune and dyno, will i need to leave my car there andif so for how long?

jessejamze 08-20-2006 03:36 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

No website. They would prob send your car to Arron, his father owns Northern Reflections. He can do anything turbo that you want. You would have to leave your car but im not sure how long, depends on what you want done. As far as everything else they can do. Arron actually fabbed up and installed a tubo 350 in his nissan 240.

Tracker 08-20-2006 03:41 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

if i wanted them to install my turbo (Hiboost), the components, tune and dyno it, could i talk to you about price reduction, cuz JE charges $500 for turbo install, and another $500 for dyno and tune, i dont know if thats an accurate price but i was already expecting it to be expensive.

geez, haven't been on in a few days and come back to find i've been jacked haha! that's alright, it happens to us all and i don't mind. i still need to get around to getting a picture of my exhaust. but for now, i'm off to the biking trails for a few hours then i'm gonna get my ears pierced for the hell of it to be a little wild before i turn 21 in a few weeks. let's just say my beer/vodka/whiskey supply is growing steadily!

the_gray_mazda6 08-20-2006 11:55 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

hey jessejamze, i like what you've done to your vehicle! I can see what you mean about that paint scheme, it can get a little tricky because of how the lining is on our 6es. How does that system sound? I actually thought about removing the stock sub as well and just slap two 12" Audiobahn subs facing upward into that empty slot and see how it sounds. Would you recommend that position for the subs over the others? (I would have assumed that you experimented with changing positions with the sub angles).

jessejamze 08-21-2006 03:08 AM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

Actually i cant face the sub up towards the hole, it wont fit, the sub is bolted it with 1/4 20 bolts and they stick up just enough to catch the lip under the rear deck. I tried facing it forward but its so close to the back seat that the port doesnt have enough room to breath. Facing to the back it just rattles the hell out of the trunk, even with 200 sq ft of sound deadener. So i have it at an angle kinda facing up and back. I still get some rattles but not that bad, the trunk flexes more than i like tho. It sounds ok but i wouldnt compete with it, its only about 130-135 db but its for everyday listening, its my daily driver. If you have any questions just give me a shout, ill try my best to help.

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

wow, i've been busy as all hell the last month. figured i'd give a little update now that i have a bit of free time at the moment. I've ordered the Ipod Integration system that hooks up to the head unit in my 6. Got a 60gb ipod from my girl for my birthday so of course i had to spoil my ride a little bit more. Also, the Injen SES exhaust purrs really nice! it put out a CEL for the first two weeks until the computer tweaked it into calibration to run the car nicely. The raspy-ness is very badass and have had plenty of compliments on it!

I've also purchased a Sharkfin Antenna that is being painted as I type so that will be slapped on soon enough. The reception is supposed to be better than the stubby antennas on the market right now so I'm giving it a shot. Every little bit helps when you are dealing with these damn mountains/hills in Pennsylvania where you lose reception fairly easily in spots. Either way, the looks of the antenna are pretty damn sweet! That's all I have for now.... money is short, school is kicking my ass, and i just wanna work on my car! :(

Well, I'm off to the local "mom and pop" tint shop tomorrow at noon! This place is called 21st Car Audio and is highly recommended to anyone in the area. They have a lifetime guarantee and they are perfectionists, so if they mess up, they will fix it until it is perfect! This is going to set the look of my car to a very impressive stance if you ask me! Can't wait any longer... well, off to work i go to help pay for this mod! I'll post pictures up probably tomorrow with the new tint. Also have that sharkfin antenna incoming as well within the next couple of weeks!

the_gray_mazda6 10-10-2006 04:09 PM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

the tint is looking really good... i have to give this guy mad props for his expertise! what would have taken me hours only took him one hour! that's damn impressive and looks damn good! Haven't had time to get a picture yet but when I wash up my car to show it off a little, I'll take a picture and post it up!

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

Alright, I have my sharkfin antenna installed and damn does it look pretty good! Didn't even have it on for 10 minutes before my buddies pulled into the driveway and complemented the look of my vehicle. Just recently got my windows tinted 35% as well as finished painting my front brake calipers. I'm still in the process of doing interior lighting and making it look neat (not all clutter). Lemme know what you all think of my ride as of this point. I shall be needing new wheels soon enough, but I think that will definitely be put off until next year when it is nice out again!

yes your car is comming along very nicely, and yes a set of rims will be nice...got any ideas on size, color, and brand?

the_gray_mazda6 10-28-2006 12:21 PM

RE: TGM_6's Ride in Progress...

well i would really like to have a set of 18 inch rims, but here in Pittsburgh the potholes would chew them up real fast unfortunately. I'll have to think things over for the winter and then once the weather gets nice out, i'll have hopefully made my decision. All i know is that a gunmetal colour would look pretty decent off my car.
