Sorry if this is a repost, but I have searched...

Mazda has a commercial about the participation in motorsports and club racing that air constantly on Speed Channel.

In a couple of the scenes from the commercial, where a silver with a blue hood Miata is pulling out from the garage in the rain, there are 4 pink jack stands in the bottom left corner of the shot. The stands are painted entirely pink, even the tops, so they've clearly never been used, and aren't there on accident.

Does anyone know of have a guess at what they are meant to symbolize or what charity or group they are meaning to support? I've searched the internet fairly deeply, and there are no references, but it's just too specific not to on purpose.

Ideas?

I'm not sure what (if anything) the jack stands symbolize, though.

 

Well, First, I do not think they are actually meaning anything.... it is only in two shots, and you don't see any other reference to them at all. They are in no other shot.... but if I had to go out on a limb, Pink is the international symbol for Breast Cancer Awareness.

 

I'm certain that the placement is intentional. You can't buy pink jackstands, and they are immaculate... so they aren't there by accident. I searched the Susan Komen foundation... where the pink for Breast cancer comes from, and they don't seem to have any affiliation with them. I agree though, that is probably the link... but its probably some director or producer that stuck them in there.

 

I too have seen that commercial maybe 50 times and never noticed that about it. I was always too busy watching the quick edit shots of the cars to notice, or ignoring the ad (drink, bathroom, etc...) all together.
BTW: That's an RX-8.
Didn't Danica Patrick use a Miata in her Pro Solo 1 career? Could it have something to do w/her influence?

This was done in post production. Look at the shadows that surround the stands. More than likely the stands were also in shadow and if this was shot on film when they did the color corrections an art director wanted the stands pulled out so the masked them and adjusted the lighting to pull them out. Which could be why they are pink.

So colors do weird things when converted. This could be it, but my guess is the first.

Pink jack stands? THAT's room for discussion and speculation?

Okay, clearly it symbolizes that allmales who mod their car in any way are totally gay. Or they are breast aware, which is gay also because all men who are REALLY hetero are not breast men. This is obvious because any like of the color pink (except when referring to porno) is totally gay.

 

Don't know about the Pink being symbolic, but different race teams paint stuff different and colors and bright colors at that so they can be seen and whose they are at a glance.
