Changes At Ford: Will Mazda Be Effected?

Does anyone know if Ford's cost cutting plan will have an impact on Mazda (or any of thier other "family" brands besides Lincoln or Mercury)? I've heard that Ford may discontinue the Focus in its present form which leads me to wonder; will re-badged incarnations of the Mazda 3 may show up on Ford dealer's lots?

i dont think that Ford's restructuring plans will have an effect on Mazda. the plans affect US workers and plants, and the Mazda is manufactured in Japan. If Ford cuts the Focus, that will be a blessing to them, they are terrible cars. I think it is possible they could re-style to make it look more like a Mazda 3 since they are popular cars, hopefully they dont, that could give Mazda bad name. Since Ford uses Mazda engines in there small trucks, i dont think they will be cutting Mazda production.
