cars and trucks made in the USA

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...-plants-4.html

NYT has a site that lists all cars/trucks made in USA, detailed info include engine and transimission. worth a look imho.

For example, Mazda6 V6 engine (Ford design) is actually made in Japan, and the 2.5L I-4 (same design as in Mazda3s '10+) is made in Mexico.

Honda has quite a few cars/SUV assembled in Canada and Mexico.

That list is "assembled" in the USA, and while it does list engine/transmission, A more accurate gauge of how "American" the vehicle is would be % Domestic Content. That would be a better indicator of how much $$$ that particular vehicle contributes to the local economy.

It also doesn't cover the R&D work that is done here in the states (which quite frankly surpasses the $$$ spent actually producing the cars.) Trillions of dollars/year are spent by American companies here in the States, an order of magnitude larger than the R&D done domestically by imports.

Corola, Matrix, and Lexis (something) assembled right here in Cambridge, Ont, Can. Where I live and close to where Jamie lives. My neibour works for the toyota plant. Also, the Toyota Rav 4 is built in Woodstock. 30 miles from here.
