Default Adventures at the North Sand Hills in Northern Colorado

Hey Guys,

Not too many posts in this section, lol.

I thought I'd share some pictures with you of our camping trip last weekend. Definitely an adventure on our part.

I took my sister, brother, and my brother's friend camping with the dirtbikes and my truck & trailer. I have a 2002 Mazda B4000, a 2008 Yamaha TTR230, and my brother has a 2003 Yamaha TTR125.

Starting from Estes Park, we headed up over Trail Ridge Road, the highest road in the U.S.

At the Alluvial Fan.

First thing after setting up camp, I took off on a side trail and drove straight into a ravine. I was blinded by the sun...

Front dug in pretty good...

The rear tire was completely off the ground...

This is the view from the bottom of the canyon. Could have rolled and fell a ways!

Finally out on the dunes!!!! We had to air down our tires; without paddle tires on a dirt bike, its almost impossible to ride out there with full tires.

The hill in the background is WAY bigger than it looks. Nathan's 125 couldn't make it up, and I had to floor it in 4WD low to get up that thing.

Unfortunately Nathan burned his leg on his bike's header when he went down once... Ouch! (He's still limping, lol)

Deadman's hill. The hardest hill in the Walden Dunes. We didnt' try it. Not with our tires! There's a guy on a Banshee screaming up it.

The dunes are truly beautiful.

It started to cloud up, so we had to go back and pack up camp.

We found a nasty skull of a dog... I'll put a link to the pic rather than display it. It's pretty gross...

With camp all packed up, all that was left was to air up the tires again. Which took longer than expected....

FINALLY, after an extra 30 mins of pumping up tires (those little cigarette lighter pumps aren't very good, they overheat REALLY easy...), We were off!!!

Definitely had a good trip. We go four-wheeling a lot, so I'll start a 4-wheeling pic thread here soon so everyone can post up their pics!

Thanks for reading,

Brian
