tranny problems???
 

Hi. We own a 2002 mpv, and today it started revving up to 3000 rpm going down the highway and the tranny started slipping. Got back to town and it kept doing this,then went out of gear. Had it towed to a garage. The mechanic took it out for a test drive and couldn't get it to do anything amiss. He said he had heard from a tranny mechanic that the tranny filters cause problems on mazdas and need replacing. I read once that if you reprogram the powertrain control module, that may fix tranny problems on mazdas. We haven't had problems before, although i thought i heard a noise when hubby reversed the other day. Also, if coolant levels got low, the tranny would act differently. Anyway, hubby drove it home (about 4 miles) without having anything done to it, and he noticed it revving up then slipping one time. There is 110,000km on it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
