Shift problems
Hello all, hope you’re all doing well. I have an ‘01 Protege 1.6L and it has the shifting problem with the Overdrive light flashing.
I think it only had maybe one service before I bought it 6 months ago and it ran great. Car was never driven hard because it was owned by an Elderly lady and I know the mechanic that did all the service since new. Did a service using correct fluid and filter and there was no abnormal signs of any internal damage. Fluid was a nice colour and even magnet wasn’t completely covered in gunk. Also the original trans. Car was fine all of these months but now revs way up when trying to shift out of 1st. The only code stored was PO455. I changed the purge solenoid and code never came back but something pending with the evap system still which was hoping to figure out later. I ohms/click tested all solenoids and solenoid A or B? (one of the small ones on side of pressure solenoid) didn’t have a constant click. Almost seemed like it was sticking. I replaced it with a Mazda solenoid and now it still has the same problem but will at times shift and drive but not well. O/D light will still flash. I haven’t been able to find a definitive answer as to what’s going on. Was hoping there is an answer before I start testing everything or replace valve body. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Also, car has 150,000 Km’s and doesn’t matter if it’s warmed up or not.
