New Mazda6 owner
Hello all. I purchased a 2007 Mazda 6 tsd two weeks ago. It is the Mazda6 estate me and my family loved this car as soon as we viewed it. We owned a Volvo V40 before this which we owned for 11 years so we hope our Mazda lives up to the Volvo. We needed a little more power to tow our caravan. We looked at the Mondeo and Vectra but was not a patch on the Mazda. I looked at the spec on the 143 engine and decided this was the car for us. The only concern i have is reading bad reviews on the d.p.f engine. What advice can anyone offer me on this. The car has done 80k and has Mazda history. The extensive full 75k service was carried out last including cambelt. We only do about 5 k miles a year any advice please.

Is that a Diesel? How many cylinders? Engine Size?
If towing anything, I would recommend a transmission cooler. Hell, I would recommend a tranny cooler even if you weren't towing anything (if it was an automatic). An automatic should have an external cooler, you should put one on a standard tranny when towing. Hope you enjoy your ride. |
Hey razor, welcome to the Mazda Forum! Reading your introduction I thought you must be one of those people that "Top Gear" is making fun of: pulling a Caravan with a Mazda 6 Estate!
I don't know your particular engine, but what could go wrong if you do only 5000 miles a year? Keep up with the oil changes, drive moderately and you will be good for the next 11 years. Have the battery load tested prior to the winter times and replace it on the first sign of weakness. Happy motoring! |
Sorry for being a bit vague but it is the 2litre diesel.
