Hello! I found your site after looking around awhile..and searching around on here, too

I've recently acquired a 98 Mazda Protege, and the engine is seized. I'd like to replace it myself, but, having some difficulty in finding replacement engines. Are there other model years / makes that have an engine I could use? Would make looking for replacement engines easier if I new a range I could hit up for parts.
This is my 2nd Mazda ever. (1st was a 1980's pickup that I wrecked....ahh those were the days!)

95-98 are the same generation and i think that the 626 and probe of the same years have the same basic platform. i recommend a 2.0L inline four from one of those year models. also, i recommend that if you buy a salvage, try to find one that came out of an automatic. you will tear up an auto tranny before you wear out a motor.
