new to the group not new to Mazda
 

I have been around Mazda's for quite a few years now. I bought my 97 miata about 6 months ago. I have to say I am totally in love with my car. So far I have a intake w/heatshield, header, new pioneer premier CD player, Kenwood speakers with crossovers, and a JL 10 in the trunk. My Roommate/Mechanic is installing a remote start alarm system on my car today. We will be building a custom roll cage shortly. I gotta say I really love Mazda's and the 1.8 DOHC BP is one of the best motors made by Mazda. The only problem I have with Mazda is that they are now owned by FORD.

They have been for a while, but it's ok most Fords are Mazda based and not the other way around so don't worry too much. what Ford mainly does is budget cuts by using cheaper plastics and such. The 2002 Protege has some Mitsubishi parts which cheapen the car but help make it more affordable. If Ford didn't own Mazda, it'd be a higher quality Mazda part. Then again Ford is the one who is convincing Mazda to bring back the Rx-7 so no complaints here. I have remote start and it is awesome, but get a neutral fail safe, I did it in gear once to show off and luckily it was facing uphill so it didn't start. welcome to the Mazda family.

Thanks for all the love guys!!!! I can already tell this is going to be a good group of people to talk mazda's with. Yeah I love it when people say something about my car being a ford. I just laugh at them and tell them to open the door. Right on the inside is a sticker that says "made in Japan"
