MX5 Odometer Number of Digits
Hello All,
I have a DMV situation.
When we bought the car the DMV showed the mileage of 64,572 on the title. But they also showed it "Exceeded the limits" instead of "Actual mileage".
They told me it was over what the odometer would register. So that would mean the odometer would only go to 99,999 miles then start over at 0.
If the odometer has 6 digits then to start over at 0 the car would have to go a million miles. So if that is the case, then my mileage would have to be the "Actual" mileage
because there are not too many cars that can go a million miles or more.
If anyone knows if the number of digits on the odometer of a 2006 MX5 or any other Mazda is 5 or 6, please post a picture?
Thank you,
Bob

Sorry I can log into time Alldata account today for some reason to get exact information on your Mazda ?
Is your speedometer digital?
If so it reads like you have either a dash gauge cluster system failing or corruption or the ECU/PCM is not reporting correctly?
I also do not know the exceptions to an milage reporting issue in your state, but many states have a waiver that can be signed by the owner for reporting actual miles that you can sign?

This is a picture of my odometer today. It looks like there is a place to the left of the 7 for another digit. That would make it a six digit odometer. What do you think?
A person with experience and skills using a professional scan tool and knowing their way around the inside of a ECU/PCM can make the digital screen briefly flash all zeros in order to count the digital spacing for reporting miles.
I can't really tell you anything with your picture, sorry.
