I have a 1998 Mazda Demio which for some reason even though it is turned off, handbrake on, the car's P red light will not turn off. I am worried it will drain its battery. I've tried several things, including moving the gearstick back and forth, turning other electronics off in the car and trying to turn the car off in drive (for obvious reasons that did not work.)
I've had an issue in the past where occasionally when starting the car it clicks and the engine does not start, however, if I put my foot on the break and move it from Park to reverse and drive it kickstarts the motor.
Just wondering if anyone has this issue and if they know of any solutions which won't cost a lot of money (I'm a student and cannot afford repairs.)
