Mazda 626 (GC) Diesel USA
 

I have stumbled across something extremely unusual on Craigslist here in Denver, and purchased the most odd of the three Mazdas listed.

The lady selling the three cars is handling the estate of her father, and personally did not know much about the cars.

The one I’m writing about is a 1985 Mazda 626 2.0D LX with a 5-speed manual transmission. It’s a factory, U.S. model, diesel 626. I had absolutely no idea these existed, even though I consider myself a seasoned enthusiast of oddball and under appreciated cars.

I can find little to nothing on the Internet about the diesel 626 finding it’s way to North America, and I was hoping for some guidance on what, if anything can be done to find parts or information pertaining to importation figures or availability when new.

This specific car, which also has a state of Colorado reassigned VIN number, has been sitting in a barn for the past ten years.

Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
