Default Whining noise.

Question. I have a slight whining noise when in gear at any speed. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what it is. It's not wheel bearings . I was told to push clutch in as I was travelling the noise still there. Question. I have a slight whining noise when in gear at any speed. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what it is. I' pretty sure it''s not the tyre noise. Also was told it could be thrust bearing. Need to have it looked at I guess. Possibly the diff.

My wife had a wheel bearing go. I though it was her transmission (she has a Subaru with a CVT) The pitch was proportionate to the speed of the car which I confirmed by putting it in neutral on the highway and the sound did not diminish.

She complained about it for a month or so before it was loud enough for me to hear.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. What Mazda do you have?

I don't think it is wheel bearings, transmission, tires and most likely engine if it does not change in pitch or volume with a change in speed.

Not much left... how about the radio!
