Default Mazda 121 Metro Hatch

Hello

This is a older car 1997

But reliable ,and cheap to run

I need some assistance , My tailgate Gas support struts' failed , Hence my need to replace these Struts
What I have encountered is that the Bottom part of the Strut attached to the inside of the Car - Is fixed
The top section was only removing two 10mm Bolts

All other Mazda Models appear to have the Ball and Clip assembly -But for some reason on this Mazda 121 Metro Hatch it is fixed as stated

Is there any forum member or Mazda specialist ,Who may be able to instruct me on how to remove the Strut completely
For replacement of New parts

Thank You

Hi all — new member here. I have the same query as the original post (my Metro is a 1996 model). Hoping another old Mazda 121 Metro owner can provide some guidance on tailgate strut replacement too.

Pics attached of strut-mounting referred to in original post.

There will be bolts behind the plastic trim panel.

Thanks mate! Any tips/suggestions/guidance on removing the plastic panelling to get to those hidden bolts?
