Maza 323 1.6ltr 2000

I own a 323 1.6 ltr mazda 2000 When taking off from a standing start the engine seems to starve its self from fuel and I have to really rev the engine to get enough revs to take off. The engine seems to be sucking air and is very hesitant when taking off. The engine is fuel injected and sometimes the problem is worse than other times
Any help would be appreciated.

SCOTT

PS I have changed the spark plugs and air filter with no difference.

Same story for every 323, try timing adjustment and if it is high end weakness it can be oxygen sensor.

MAZDA HAS SSP (SPECIAL SERVICE PROGRAM) FOR 1999-00 PROTEGE (1.6) MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR WTY EXTENSION.
WTY IS 7YRS OR 70,000 MILES. CHECK WITH YOUR DEALER IF THE MILEAGE PASSES. IF NOT POST AGAIN, I'LL
EXPLAIN A REPAIR PROCEDURE THAT WORKS 75% OR BETTER.
