Induction kit
Hi I own a Mazda 5 2005 with a 1.8 engine I have tried to fit a cone filter to my car in which I did with no.problems , removed the air box placed the maf into the hole on the nice chrome tube put on the cone filter and thought great now to go for a drive , well it went more like a bucking horse it wouldn't rev right and it wouldn't go faster than 10mph so got it back home and put old air box back and car starts up great and drives great , also I had to get the check light off luckly I have a code reader which said it was the maf, can any one tell me what I can do because I do want to put this on to my car .

no more dirt into engine due to bigger air filter been fitted ,I think you are wrong with quote about performance if you think about it all the race car teams don't have standed air boxers on they fit induction kits

Sorry, the type of the filter you're advocating typically has much larger pores, the filter could be the size of the size of the whole car and it would still pass more dirt. As for a performance increase, no again, your stock 1.8 cannot possibly breathe well enough to exceed the flow characteristics of the OEM filter.
