A 6th gen, BG series, 1989-1994.

Since these cars are not considered collectible, and are now 20yrs old you may have to use your skills and ingenuity and creativity to accomplish your goal.
Seek out older DIY junkyards. Do research on the web, which generally makes things a lot easier than they used to be.

Since the car has a distributor, you may be able to lighten the springs and/or change the advance weights for a quicker advance. Bumping the static timing up a few degrees will help with some more power.

Keep any exhaust system mods to small tubing... <2" diameter tubing. Going too big will detract from torque, and since the engines aren't that powerful to begin with, you want all the torque you can get.

If carburetted (though it probably isn't) mods can be done to that also. Replacing or drilling out jets will allow more fuel to flow and more air. Be sure what you're doing here though cause once its done you may not be able to go back.

As for body kits/pieces, you will likely have to keep an eye on classifieds and bide your time until something that someone has in their garage and wants to get rid of comes along.

Reducing any weight you can will afford more performance and fuel mileage. Wheels and tires are one way to do this that should afford better handling and quicker steering.

That's about it for now. Just hang in there and be patient.
