Grill shutters

2024 CX-50 Base 2.5 - this is one hot engine.!! One piping hot engine coming right up!
Does anyone know how I can (safely) remove the grill shutters or deactivate them in the open position.
Bought my car brand new. I have never seen an engine run this hot before. a blown head gasket just waiting to happen all in the name of a tiny bit of fuel efficiency.
am I the only one discouraged by this?
I don't want to just unplug them and leave the wire flapping in the wind. Yes, I know the AC has an override to open them
I would just prefer to be rid of them.
Can anyone leave a kind comment to help. Thank you

Welcome to the forum

My guess is that you are just not accustomed to the normal under hood temperatures.

I would FIRST recommend that you get and use a Digitaol handheld temperature meter and collect some readings. Most humans even experienced ones can really teel the difference between 130F and 170f and the average temperatures under the hood run between 160F-230F on top of most areas of the engine and over the exhaust manifold 400F + all also influenced on the ambient and how much idle time was done. At speeds above 40 mpg all the temperatures change again. Some cooler and some hotter. Unless you fully understand the effects of attempting to run the under-hood temperatures cooler I would first do the testing.

thanks for your opinion but you did not answer my question.

Here is my question again...
Does anyone know how I can (safely) remove the grill shutters or deactivate them in the open position?

Ok sure but not an opinion.
There is no service procedure by Mazda for doing what you are asking.
The reason I did not give a How-To is will negatively affect your Mazda's operations and if you have any warranty left may void because the first DTC (likely when disconnect the power supply harness that controls the shutter) you get will be record in your ECU counters. I have at least advised why not to do the downgraded mod .and that it will not do what you think it will. IATs don't work that way
As an authorized Warranty Service Technician for a couple of auto manufacture's including Mazda as well a long time ASE mater technician I advise NOT to do this modification.

But if a members wants to give you the info then you have at least been advised not to and cautioned what may be the end results of this mod.
