Default Greetings from the frozen North

hello all,
i just scored a very sweet 2002 Protege LX after my Subie rusted out, and i've joined this
group to find out how to maintain it. it doesn't have any issues yet known but i will definitely
have to get use to driving in snow with a front wheel drive vehicle again. i was tired of the low
gas mileage of the Subies and the constant fear of a head gasket failure! i hope these Protege's
don't have any catastrophic failures? thanks for any and all advice.

Welcome to the forum and Mazda ownership. You may want to consider winter tires. Many have said that winter tires are better than AWD for driving in snow.

Let us know how you like the drive in the Mazda. My wife is on her 5th Subaru and I am on my 6th Mazda. I don’t think there are two more different driving brands.

thanks! so far i love the Mazda but i hope it does okay in the snow...we do still have
the wife's OB so if it gets too deep she can take me to work i will have to wait on snow
tires for now. do you know if the Mazda's had any mechanical issues i should be aware of?
thanks, jim
