Drum Brake -help to remove it on Tribute
 

Hi Everyone,
Please help me how to remove the drum? I have tried to hit with a hammer and adjusted the brake adjuster but that did not come off. Much appreciated if you can help me.

Thanks for youtube link. One more question I would like to ask is whether I should put a two bolts in the original screw hole in the drum as I have insert one bolt and it went in as deep as 10cm and the other bolt only went in about 3cm? I did not try to force it right in in case I might damage the brake etc.

Please advise if that is the hole to take the drum out as shown in the youtube link demo.

The Youtube shows it correctly. So I am not sure what holes you found that allows a bolt to go in as much as 10 cm.
The bolts should only go in as much as the thickness of the drum at that point, then they should push against the hub and brake the drum loose. A few more mm and the drum will slide off the center ring. If the drum has worn there will be a lip which catches the shoes. That could make the removal a bit more difficult. Don't be too shy using force.

There is another method I used on the '98 Protege: I used a heavy hammer, not as shown in the video but: the drum has a lip on the outside. I placed the shaft of a chisel behind the lip and hammered on this shaft. You need a bit of room to swing the hammer, therefore you will do this at the lowest spot of the drum, below the level of the axle. The advantage is you apply the impact in the direction you want the drum to move. The chisel saves the backing plate from the hammer blows. Keep turning the hub with drum to get the whole perimeter.
