Can't post either!
I AM GOING TO TRY TO POST HERE TO SEE IF I WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. LET;S HOPE NOT. MY SON HAS A 200 MAZDA MIATA WITH 94000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS BEEN USING ABOUT 2 QUARTS OF OIL A WEEK WHEN HE GOES ON LONG TRIPS. ANY SUGGESTIONS
That's a lot of oil to go through. How many miles between quarts? If there are no leaks (be sure to check for pressure leaks too - they might not show up on the driveway), check compression and valve guides. You didn't mention if there is any blue smoke. Continuous smoke indicates oil is getting by the rings. Smoke at start up that clears up while driving indicates worn valve guides. Also run a finger around the inside of the tail pipe. If it comes out greasy it's burning oil. 94K miles isn't necessarily a lot unless there hasn't been much maintenence then it's a bunch.
I hope I'm not telling you something you already know. Let me know what you find.
