Hi Guys.
Having problems with my 2006 1500cc Axela Transmission. When I engage in DRIVE it selects 1st but nothing happens, I can rev the engine and it will thump into 1st but wont hold. If I choose the tiptronic 1st gear it works fine, so it seems that the DRIVE selection has stopped working. There are no warning lights on the dash, I checked the fluid and it seems correct at 20c and at 65c. I checked the diagnostics and it says a P0401 fault which is the egr valve, would the egr valve cause this? I made a phone call to the transmission mechanic and they suggested it was a speed sensor, but only the egr valve shows diagnostic test. Any clues?

What scan tool are you using?

I would recommend taking it to Mazda, only because their diagnostic software (MMDS) is far superior to other scan tools.
