So this is my first mazda. On my way to work today my speed lost all its power and was barely running. And the engine was knocking. I limped it to work and plugged the scanner in it. It through codes for a misfire in cylinder 3 and crankshaft sensor. Changed the plugs and replace the coil pack. Started it up, the engine still was knocking and still throwing code for misfire in cylinder 3, but was no longer throwing the code for crankshaft. Is it possible for the crankshaft sensor to make the engine knock. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

 

Swap the spark plug & coil to cylinder 4. Clear the code, start engine & see what code you get. If its still cylinder 3, try swapping the fuel injector to cylinder 4.
