03 protege5 or 04 mazda6 s
 

Hi guys! New member here and I've got a question to start things off with!

I'm looking to get a new car soonish and I've come across the 2 cars in my price range/what i want list. The protege5 is an 03 2.0L i4 manual, and the mazda6 is the 3.0L v6 manual.

The mazda 6 is faster, more powerful on paper, and has more room (which is why I'm looking at a wagon) but the protege5 looks a bit nicer (in my opinion) and in most accounts is a bit quicker around corners due to the smaller frame and 600lbs less on them bones. If anything I'm leaning a bit towards the protege5, but it comes down to my last question.

Which is easier to work on and upgrade? I would love to throw on a turbo and do some performance upgrades among standard work, and I'm wondering if one is easier to source/install parts than the other.
