Winter Tires

Hi,

I'm new here and need some input on winter tires for my 2005 6i 5-door. I live in New England and plan to get a set of four snow tires mounted on dedicated wheels. Any input would be greatly appreciated-especially if you live in a snowy area. I'd didn't turn up a current thread on this topic via search. Thanks!

RE: Winter Tires

Dunlop Wintersport M3's in 205/50R17 on the stock 17" wheels work terrific. I do a ton of snow driving.

Nokia RSI tires (Rain, Snow, Ice) are very good tires and are big sellers in Canada, Russia and Finland. They are made in Finland where it snows a lot. Of course, after I bought mine and an extra set of wheels, snowfall in New Jersey has diminished greatly.

Nokinas are indeed the best IMO...but for the money, Winterforce is pretty decent and very inexpensive. Get some 16" steelies and some 205/60-16s for about $65 each...

RE: Winter Tires

Hi, I'm on my 3rd set of tires on my 2005 6i 4cyl. The mich mx3's lasted 30k and really sucked in the rain/snow. 2nd set were ntb regent touring made by cooper. Real good in wet/snow by only lasted 28k. I just put on a set of yoke as430 with a 60k wearout. I'll keep you posted. I sure hope these last longer that the first two sets. BTW: ntb treated me very fairly by giving me the credit for the bad mile wear out on the regent touring tires. Steve from St.Louis,MO
