white smoke from 2007 mazda6

Hey guys. Coming here to see if I can have some help concerning the white smoke from my car.

The engine started to shake as I was driving yesterday and the car drove funny (sometimes accelerating, other times not). I added oil because I saw that it was low and thought the engine problem was b/c of that.

The engine shaking stops for now, but now white smoke is coming out of my exhaust pipe. I'm wondering if it's b/c I add too much oil or that. The white smoke was coming out as I was driving back to my apartment after refill, and now coming out when starting up the car.

I apprecitate any help and add details when I can.

If you are positive that the smoke is white, that is a sign of coolant getting into the combustion area. If it is oil, the smoke should be bluish/gray in color. However, I am leaning more towards it being oil.

Should I take it to an auto repair shop to have it looked over to make it's the coolant problem and not the excessive oil burn up? It is safe to drive with excess oil as long as I let the car warm up first?

Check the oil level, it's not good to drive a car that has been over filled with oil. Also check the coolant level. If your still unsure take it to a shop
