At what mileage did you first change your front brake pads? My 2005 Mazda6 is the base 4 cylinder with a 5-speed. It has nearly 34K miles. Just curious when I should plan for this eventuality. Also, did you also replace the rotors the first time you changed pads?

 

I always either turn the rotors or put new ones on. I check my wife's every 30k miles or so. Just put the second set of rotors and 3rd set of pads on her car a couple weeks ago (just over 94K miles)

 

I was at 45k when mine needed replacing.

 

obviously it would make a difference your driving style, but i have an 06 with the v6, bought it with 8K miles and it now just flipped 41K, still lots of pad left, no vibrating. The brake performance has reduced since new, which I attribute to the use over the life so far. I would consider myself a rather spirited driver. I am expecting on replacing pads/rotors with OE at about 60K. Wife has a 2004 3 with the 2.3. she ran 85K b4 the rear pads/rotors needed changed and just over 100K for the front, she did 90% freeway driving.
