Default Unorthodox pulley dangers

I am thinking about putting an unothodox underdrive crank pulley on my car, but i heard rumors that they can damage your engine alot, i was wondering if this was true and how does it damage the engine? and if anyone knows the ratio of the unorthodox pulley and what would be considerd a safe ratio? also does the stock pulley serve as a dampaner? if someone could answer this that would be great...thanks

Default RE: Unorthodox pulley dangers

correct, stock unit is a dampner as well. in fact, contour guys are "upgrading" pulleys to the stock Mazda6 units. there are only 2 guys that i know of with the Unorthodox pulleys on their 6s', one has had it for almost 3 years, the other for almost 2....neither with any issues. both just talk about it being a great gain. so, no one with a 6s (that is on any forum) has upgraded and had issues yet. they are all from the 2.5 duratec found in the older fords.

someone on 6club is working on a fluiddampner upgrade currently, so if you are on the fence, and not worried about time frame. you might see a "safer" option available end of the year, or early next year. but again, there haven't been issues with the Unorthodox unit yet either?
