Default Transmission or something creaking when cold.
2012 Mazda 6 hatchback (Australia). When the engine is cold and start off in the morning, I can hear a creak from the engine bay.

Can be easily reproduced by just changing gears.

Have a really good look/inspection of all 3 engine/transmission mounts.

Weird thing for me is that it doesn't make the noise when it warms up.

Is the engine running? are you pressing & releasing the clutch?

Sorry should have said it is an auto. Engine feels normal just that rattle.

Your audio clip isn't great. I would book it in with a mechanic or transmission shop.
