Tranny skipping!
Hey anyone here have a problem like this: i have an '05 6 Sport auto with w/almost 80k miles....about 3 nites ago after driving around all day (i've never had ANY problems with my car!) i stopped @ a red. when it turned green and i stepped on the gas and my car jumped rite into 3rd and then the battery light went on. after like 30 seconds i used the "manumatic" shifter to put it into 2nd. the battery light remained on though. luckily i was close to my destination and just drove to it and parked. since then it's been fine...THEN last nite- same thing! this time i cudnt shift it into 2nd manually -it did shift to 4th normally then back into 2nd then 1st as i slowed down-...again, i was close to my desitnation so i just drove to it and parked and its been fine so far....ANYONE have ANY insight?!?!!? thanks everybody!!!

Sounds like limp mode to me. Do you have an aftermarket intake, and was it wet out when this happened?
|
no mods here!
nope, i have no aftermarket anything....it had been raining prior to this i believe though! roads may have been wet but it wasn't raining @ the time...

Hmm, but the stock airbox has baffles to prevent the air filter from getting wet, so I'm not so sure how likely limp mode is for you. Since the car threw a code, I'd take it to autozone and get them to pull it for you. It'll give us something more to work with in diagnosing the problem.

update!
so, 2 nites ago...it happened again: after i got gas and turned the car back on it jumped into 3rd and wouldn't change. so i limped back to my boyfriend's place, parked it and left it overnite. next day, was gonna drive it over to PepBoys so i jumped into it and it wouldn't start! acted like a dead battery! only thing is......battery is 2 weeks old! got it jumped, started rite up and drove it over to PepBoys.....asked them to do a diagnostic on the electrical/electronic system. this whole time the check engine light has never come on...its always been the battery light! so i figure that a good place to start.....so now im waiting for them to get back to me....

Sounds like it could be the Transmission Control Module. When you were installing the battery, was anything crossed or sparked?
