Timing Belt or Something Else?

First I am new to the site and think it's pretty cool. I drive a 2004 3.0 V6 mazda 6S Manual (Stick).
I am having problems with the car when I try to drive it. The RPMS will shoot up and down however my car hardley moves even with me presssing the gas. It will eventually start to go however with every shift the RPM's will shoot up but the car will struggle to move forward. Can someone help me please! I think it is the timing belt it does have 90,000 miles on it but want to be sure before I go and replace it.

The Mazda6 uses a chain, not a belt. Check your Throttle Body, they are kinda notorious for giving problems. Take it off & clean. Put it back on & see what it does.

Thanks for the quick reply MAzmart Trini! I took it to a shop and they said the clutch was burned out. I was very surprised to see that it would cost me over a $1,000 to do at every shop I called. They said the 6 has alot of labor 8+ hours to change the clutch. Anyone know of any service manuals out there where I can do it myself?

The clutch job on the 6 is a pretty long job. The front subframe has to be dropped to remove the trans.
