Synthetic Auto Trans Fluid?

Is the OE auto trans fluid synthetic?

If not, has anyone changed theirs with aftermarket synthetic fluid?

What brand?

Thanks

Check your dip stick and/or owners' manual. First generation Mazda 6's from '05 and up with the 6-speed Asin ATX use Toyota T-iv (Ford offers and quivalent). Do not use Dextron or Mercon....you will be very very sorry if you do.

First off, yes, the OEM ATF (specifically called ATF M-V) is synthetic.

That said, given that I'm not a user of ATF of any sort (I never learned how to drive a car with a automatic transmission; all my cars have three pedals under the dash), I'm only partially able to opine on this subject. So as I understand it, Castrol sells a product called "Castrol Import Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)" that is "Recommended for use" in vehicles that came from the factory with ATF M-V. FWIW, Red Line and Amsoil include similar language in their sales literature for their Multi-vehicle ATFs, and while any/all of them might well be acceptable, I'd be much more inclined to spend the extra couple of bucks and buy genuine Mazda ATF M-V. Why? Because none of them have been "Certified" as being compatible with ATF M-V. Is that an issue? Well, ask anybody you know with a Chrysler Minivan; Chrysler specifies ATF+4 for their transmissions, and many-many shops insist in using multi-vehicle ATF, only to have the owner pony up several grand a few months later for a new transmission. Better safe than sorry.

I definitely prefer to use the OE if synthetic.

Thanks for the info

I use Redline in my Hyundai and Mobil 1 10w30 in the Jeep.
