Steering Wheel Shaking

I noticed this morning on my way to work, that when I apply pressure to the brake pedal, my steering wheel shakes. Am I correct in saying that this is a warpped rotar? Only 8,000 mi, so if it is, I will surely take this back to the dealer and have the problem fixed.

Mazda has a TSB for this: http://www.mazda6tech.com/tsb/brakejudder.pdf

Tell the dealer what's going on and bring a copy of this just in case the dealer tries to say they are going to replace a wear-item under warranty.

Definitely sounds like a warped brake rotor. Warranty should cover without a problem at only 8,000 miles.

i have a 2004 mazda6 and at 13000 miles, i also had the steering wheel shaking symptoms. i took it back to dealer and they replaced pads and resurfaced (?) rotors and it seemed to take care of the problem. About 15000 miles the problem returned and i again took it back to dealer. Dealer tells me that it is now "wear and tear" since it is over 15K miles. I didn't have anything done until i research it more throughly but it shouldn't be considered wear & tear at 15K, don't you think? Opinions?

if you press the brake pedal and your steering wheel shakes then it's your brakes. go get the rotor resurface and make sure sand it down a little bit on the brake pads as well.

if you drive over 60 mph and your steering wheel shakes then go get your wheels balanced. since you have 8k miles you should of have done it while you hit 5k miles. you can just balance the two wheels that's going on the the front. if your whole body shakes bad then for sure you have to balance all 4 wheels.

Thanks for the info, I will be taking the car in to have this fixed. I know that is not the tires, because I had them belanced and rotated at 7500. Thanks again.

you should do it every 5000 miles on the rotation. if your are not feeling vibration then just balance at 10k or when ever you feel it. plus it's easier to count this way.

also check your tires. if they are cupping the 1. you corner very fcuking hard, or 2. lack of rotation and balance or maybe bad shock

most likely i believe your problem is the brake.

let me know if the dealer wannty this since the mileage is so low.

i think if you have higher mileage the dealer won't do it.

my buddy's evo get one free rotor resurface at the mit. dealer.. how nice huh??
