single disc swap with 6 disc?

Yes they are, within certain years. Because of a change in displays and connections I think only the 03-05 unit will work in your '05 6i. But expect many more problems with the 6-disk too.
I considered doing the swap to my 3 until I started reading about stuck disks and non-loading disks, etc.
I know its inconvenient but I would stay w/the single disk if I were you. Its less complicated and more reliable because it is.
