Should My Back-Up Sensor Also Beep?

Hi Everyone! New Guy here. I just purchased a pre-owned 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring. My first full day of driving it today, and I noticed that, when I'm backing up into a parking space, and there's a car behind me, I see the image of the car in the monitor, but I don't get a "beeping" sound as I approach. Is that normal? The Ford Fusion rental car I had beeped like crazy. Many Thanks!

Is your car equipped with reverse sensors?

I dont know if your car has it but some cars have a small switch somewhere in the luggage area which just turns off the beeper. Often this switch is operated accidentally whilst loading or unloading. I had the same issue with an Audi Avant my beeper disappeared. Our Mazda 6 saloon( sedan) certainly has a reversing beeper as well as a front facing beeper ( confusingly both the same beeper noise , probably the same sounder).

It has a back-up camera, but there's no beeping sound to indicate I'm getting closer to the vehicle behind me. I'm wondering if that's normal.

If you don't have 4 parking sensors mounted in the rear bumper, then you will have no audible warning.
