Question about Mazdaspeed 6, or any mazda with rotary motor.
I am looking to get a Mazdaspeed 6, I love this car in every way possible. I am just concerned with the rotary motor this car has, and also the turbo. My step father owns a shop and his mechanic told me that if I get this car, he will not work on it because its a rotary motor, that kind of got me nervous about buying one. How well do these motors hold up? Are there any major problems I should know about? And how many miles does the turbo usually get out of it?

the mazdaspeed 6 does not have a rotary engine. the only rotary engine cars are those with the "RX" prefix. those imported were rx-2, rx-3, rx-4, rx-7, and rx-8. that is all. no other production vehicles came with the rotary. they are all just piston engines.

Mazdaspeed 6 is powered by a turbocharged direct injection 2.3 liter I4, not a rotary as Wes said. I'd be more concerned about that mechanic working on cars when he doesn't know the difference between a rotary and a piston engine...but maybe that's just me.

I smell a troll. I will wait a little and see what happens.

i knew it didnt have a rotary engine, but the guy at the dealership argued with me that it did and the window sticker said it did.

+1 I'd like to see pics of this as well. One of the car with the sticker visible in the window and another of the sticker close enough to be read.

For some reason Cam, I highly doubt we will get either.
