Private Party Value after Engine Swap...
Hey folks ... I posted a while back asking engine questions and whatnot. Well, to make a long story short, an engine swap had to be performed. Before this entire incident I was planning on selling the car, and I am still wanting to do so. Can anyone tell me if a 88k mile car with a used 19k mile engine in it is worth less since an engine swap was performed? The work was performed by a great independent shop and I have the receipt to show people. What caused this was running over road debris that cracked the radiator, caused the engine to overheat, rendering the car in need of an engine. There was no body damage, and there is a clean title. The car is a 2003, 2.3L, Safety package, and 1 owner. I was just curious if I can ask the full private party value for the car, which ranges from $7,765 to $9,420 according to KBB.com.
Thanks, Kyle |

I'd say it doesn't really matter too much, could go either way depending on who you are trying to sell to...People expect there to be a good running motor in a car they are buying. With a KBB of $9500, I'd set it at just under $10K to give you room to negotiate.(many people search by the cost of the car)

sstlaure is right...it really won't lower the market value of the car. You might even get lucky and have it SLIGHTLY increase the market value! But you should definitely at least break even in value. Sell away! Good luck to you,
