Default Oil Viscosity Question

Hey all, I just changed my oil in my Mazda 6i yesterday and realized the car calls for 5w-20 however I already bought 5w-30. Is this going to be a problem? I know it's a thicker oil but will it cause any type of issue? I'm just wondering if it's one of those deals where I should drain it and put in 5w-20. Thanks for the input...

Default RE: Oil Viscosity Question

Won't hurt a thing. The use of 5W-20 is almost exclusively for MPG numbers that auto manufacturers are attempting to meet by any means possible. For what it's worth, Mazdaspeed vehicles are spec'd for 5W-30 as the turbo requires additional protection. It should perform exceptionally well in a regular 3 / 6.
