Oil choice for SkyActiv 2.5?

I'm curious what oil weights people are using in their SkyActiv engines? The owners manual is hilariously schizophrenic in that it tells people in the USA we should use 0w-20 but the rest of the world should use 5w-30. I'm led to believe that the USA recommendation is based entirely on getting marginally higher fuel economy from using the thinner oils, not because they offer any better wear protection.

I'm planning on using 0w-20 (and factory filters) in my 2016 until the warranty expires, but after that I'm unsure. Given that I have several bottles of 5w-30 hoarded from sales over the years I expect some of it might find its way into my 6.

On a semi-related note: I bought some factory oil filters recently and was pleased to see each included a new crush washer for the drain plug. That's a nice touch and it helps justify the higher price of the factory filter.

Before I decided which oil to use in our 2016 Mazda3 s GT is spent some time on the BobIsTheOilGuy.com web site and looked at UOA reports of the Mazda branded 0W-20; due to it's high moly content, the UOAs all came back stellar; better than every other oil tested of any grade. I've been buying the Mazda oil on Amazon and have absolutely zero complaints.
