I have a '05 Mazda 6 and the "AT" light keeps coming on and will not switch out of 3rd gear. Now I am taking the car in for a transmission flush next week, but does any one know why the car is doing this and what I can do to fix it. It has a little over 50k miles and no warrenty. Anybody please help with any information you may have.

 

ya your automatic tranny is going out on you , and a flush will not fix it , you will have to buy a new tranny , sorry to break the new to you

 

It should have a code in the PCM. Could be a solonoid. you should pull the codes and see what comes up.

 

I agree with hixx....don't automatically assume you need a new tranny (thousands)...you may just need a repair (hundreds). Please let us know what you find out, ok?
