Default Mazda 6 ATF drain and fill ( Jerky Auto Shifting )

Hello, I am new to his forum so I apologize if I’ve posted this in the wrong location.

I recently bought a 2016 Mazda 6 i touring. It has the automatic with the ability to switch to manual. I absolutely love the car but I will say it seems to be a little jerky and rough on the up and downshift sometimes. It’s at about 62k and has been taken care of pretty well with all routine maintenance up to date since day one.

I see online a lot of people suggest this might be caused by dirty, low or contaminated transmission fluid. I’m no car guy so I called Mazda and they said it’s closed system and when they have been forced to do ATF drain and fills the customer “always” ends up needing a new transmission….

Didn’t expect that when all the videos and posts I’ve read talk about needing to change your ATF every 100k but earlier to maintain longevity.

I will say I have a 60k warranty on everything other than tires that just started (till 120k) so I’m not worried about an issue, I just want a less jerky ride. I have also reset the gears by watching a video because I heard it can pick up bad routines from previous owners.

Just looking for possible insight without having to go get a bill for diagnostic. Sorry for the long post. I appreciate any info and or feedback on if there is a better place for this question to be! Thank you.

Welcome to the forum

There is a lot of better information on this forum as to when to do a transmission basic service.

You are overdue....

To save time use the search feature of your account.

This is a subject filled with owners and DIY that think their information they find is correct... Yet oil analysis tends to not agree with them...

Bottom line you are very overdue for a basic oil pna filter service and fluid service.

PM me if you need more information...
