Mazda 6 acceleration issues

My wife's 05 mazda 6 will run fine and then suddenly it will start acting as if I am playing with the accelerator. While doing this, when you stop the car , it keeps trying to accelerate and the rpms stay around 4. When coasting the car slowly increases in speed and coasts around 40 mph. If you turn the car off the issue goes away only to randomly occur again. Any ideas?

Check engine light ever come on? Advance, Auto Zone, etc. will pull the code/s if so.

If it was me, and you have no codes to be pulled, I'd start by disconnecting the battery for a good 20-30 minutes. Doing so has fixed the stupidest of things on my car. Everything from iPod adapter not working to A/C not working.

And then there is the usual stuff like changing plugs - dirty throttle body - dirty mass airflow meter - etc.

Also check the according intake tube for cracks in the ribs. If you also have a bad idle when up to temp, and any hesitation on accelerating, it could be cracked.

If this car is a V6, try removing the throttle body and cleaning it.

Im having the same problem, I removed the throttle body cleanned it, and now it does it more often.
I think it has something to do with the electronic component of the throttle body that might be getting stuck or something.
Who can help?

New Throttle Body: CordovaMotorSports.com Click on throttle bodies.
Do not get Conversion Kit larger throttle body. Get the optimized one. You can get rebuilt or new. I would get new.
Any updates on what you did? It is important to update results/findings. We all gain knowledge when this is done. We need follow up.
