Sorry if this has been posted before but i can not find an answer.
I have a mazda 6 ts2 2.2 diesel engine code r2aa with 68k miles. My oil light came on and around 4 secs later the engine sized (oil lv was fine). After looking through this and other forums i found a few posts with the same issue and i am now lead to believe the the strainer in the oil sump on these engines are prone to getting blocked (notsure how but apparently a buildup of carbon in the sump). To this end i have sourced an replacement engine but i can not find any information on the procedure to be followed to change the engine TQ figures change parts sequence of events ect. Mazda have been no help and cannot find anything on the net, haynes do not do a manual for this car and none of the maint manuals i have found on the net cove this engine either. Please can anybidy point me in the right direction please.

Hi its a 2009 with a 2.2 diesel code r2aa

 

1. Drain the engine coolant.

2. Drain the transaxle oil.

3. Remove the engine cover.

4. Remove the battery and battery tray.

5. Remove the air cleaner component and air inlet hose.

6. Remove the boost sensor.

7. Remove the dipstick.

8. Disconnect the fuel main hose and fuel return hose.

9. Disconnect the vacuum hose.

10. Disconnect the heater hoses.

11. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.

12. Disconnect the charge air cooler inlet hose and charge air cooler outlet hose.

13. Set the shift cable, selector cable and clutch release cylinder parts related to the transaxle out of the way.

14. Remove the front wheels and tires.

15. Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2.

16. Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.1.

17. Set the front mudguards out of the way.

18. Remove the splash shields.

19. Remove the front crossmember component.

20. Disconnect the front drive shaft from the transaxle.

21. Remove the thermostat.

22. Remove the drive belt.

23. Remove the A/C compressor with the pipe still connected. Set the A/C compressor out of the way. Use wire or rope to secure it.

24. Remove the oxidation catalytic converter (built-in diesel particulate filter).

25. Remove the front pipe.

26. Disconnect the exhaust gas pressure hoses.

27. Remove the engine sump insulation.

28. Disconnect the wiring harness.

29. Support engine from underneath

30. Remove all engine & transmission mounts.

** Engine & transmission come out from the bottom as one unit **

 

Thank you very much just one last question what specification (must meet these specs) oil should i put in the new engine as mazda will not tell me

 

Engine is out now but i had to lift out of the engine bay as i do not have a ramp so unfortunately i have to regas the aircon half way there now just need to transfer parts to new engine and drop it back in

 

In my market we use Genuine Mazda DL1 engine oil.

You can use a C1 grade Diesel DPF spec oil or Jaso DL1 spec oil.
