Loud knocking at idle

2006 madza 6 has loud knocking at idle but goes away with gas and it doesnt do it every time only when engines hot, metal shrapnel was found on magnetic oil plug during oil change.

Main bearing(s) are going. The crankshaft is most likely gone also. The metal in the oil has allowed the cam to be chewed.
Time for a new (or rebuilt) engine. I would NOT try to fix this motor.
