Default looking for new tires (215/50/17)

My original oem michelin piolt hx mxm4 need to replace within 6,000 miles. I guess they will not last 35,000 miles. I will not consider to buy michelin piolt hx again due to one tire $204.

How is the quality for falken ziex ze-512? Goodyear eagle gt?

What are your new tires besides michelin piolt hx mxm4?

For the street, I run Yokohama YK540's and had had good luck with them, they've lasted me around a year and a half (around 40-45k miles) and are nice and quiet. For autocross i run Bridgestone Potenza RE01-R's, really sticky, really fun, and really short life-span.

On my former 2005 Mazda 6s GT (totalled in an accident in Feb 2007 - Black Ice ). I replaced the poor wearing Michelins with Yokohama AVIDs . They were great - very quiet, excellent driveability, and about $60 cheaper than the michelins. Don't worry about the Black Ice. No tire or 4WD system on the planet without Electronic Stability Control can handle Black Ice conditions.... probably even with ESC, IMO....

Well, considering Ice = no grip without some serious specialized tires that basically have metal spikes spread across them, and there is no system on earth that can provide grip where there is none to be found I'd have to agree with you whole heartedly. The Yoko's are great tires, had a set of the AVIDs before the YK's and have loved them both.

I'm not a street racer, so I just got some every day tires: Michelin Primacy MXV4

They ride smooth and have a 60k mile tread warranty.

Yokos are fine but beware the weak sidewalls. I have blown out more Yokos than any other tire.

Kumho Ecsta ASX or Solus KH16 are quite good for the price but both rated poorly for snow and ice (mentioning just in case that is a factor).

What are your thoughts on these tires? They won't be used in the winter.

Well that site is a ripoff but as for the tire itself, it looks good. Very good results on the Tire Rack survey. It is also about $55 cheaper per tire at the Tire Rack.
