How long is your original battery last?

My original Mazda 6's battery is just last 23 months with 23,000 miles. The dealer replaces new 60 months battery. The dealer charges 50% of cost without labor ($59) under Mazda warranty. The battery is very expensive and it is not even available at Sears. How long is yours?

4 years, 43,000 milesand counting. But I have recently tested it and it will need replacing before long.
You got the prorated cost on the battery. After about a year, it isn"t worth is because they charge you as much as a new one would cost.
Is Sears the only place you checked? I wouldn"t trust my car to any Sears technician.

My sis-in-law's died over the weekend. Second one that she is on (this one lasted less than a year). I am glad I don't have one:).

4.5 years and 78,000 miles....no issues yet (although I expect it to die this winter) Cold weather is hard on batteries.

Our original battery made it 4yrs / 53k miles. So-so performance, I'd say. Not piss poor, but certainly not stellar (Had in Exide battery in my daily-driver '85 BMW that went NINE years and about 95k miles!!).

3 years, 30,000 miles...dead!

Original batt lasted 1.5 years and around 20K miles. The one that followed lasted 1 year and 15K. I switched to an Optima Red top and it's lasted 2 years and around 40K with no signs of changing. Heat and humidity here is every bit as hard as the cold on batts.

I finally replaced my OE battery after +/-5.5 yrs/+/- 50k miles. Not that it actually died, but could hear the starter motor struggling more than before and felt better to replace it now than get stuck somewhere and have to make a quick, uneducated, and perhaps costly decision.

5yrs and only 50K!?! I'm assuming that the 3 is not your DD and/or that it doesn't go on many road trips.

Yup! Mostly back and forth to work. Only one major trip when we went to Pa in her in late 2005, and that added approx 3400 miles.

My wife and I don't travel well together in cars. I like to take my time and see the sites... stop whenever the mood strikes or something interesting pops up.

She just wants to GET THERE IN 2 DAYS OR LESS!! My back can't take that kind of long-term driving. I get tired and testy if in the car too long.

BTW: Just this morning, V1 turned over 57,800 (total) miles. :D :D :D
