Default how long can oil 5W 40 oil MAGNATEC PRO last ?

What happens if I have it in the car for year and half ?

In the last 12 months the car has only done like 7 000 km.

It is a 2007 Mazda 6, 2.5 Manual

in a car that requires 5W20! Check the top of your oil cap under your hood for verification.
you may get away with 5W30 but not 5W40---it's too thick. I still would put in 5W20 for winter, you may get away with 5W30 synthetic in the summer.
Even though it says in pdf for all mazdas, it still must be proper oil weight as in this schedule in that pdf: http://www.tds.castrol.com.au/pdf/50...98_2009_06.pdf

Castrol Magnatec Professional 5W-40 is suitable for use where the following
specifications or classifications are cited:

Where these SAE grades cited
Petrol engines, supersedes SL, SJ, SH, etc
5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-30, 10W-40, 15W-40, 20W-40

Diesel engine, supersedes CD, CC. 4WD, passenger car and LCV
5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-30, 10W-40, 15W-40, 20W-40, 30

Well the official mazda dealer in Bulgaria added the 5W-40 last time they changed it. Not that I believe what they do. Good to be getting second opinions.

In Queensland Australia where I now live & work we use 5w40 semi sythetic in Mazdas.
Back in NZ we used 5w30 mineral oil.

Diferent countries & climates will dictate the oil spec.

Again, as stated before and unanswered, I need an answer to this question: What oil weight does it say on your oil cap on top of your engine?!!
